This Privacy Policy explains how Chit Circle collects, uses, stores, protects and otherwise processes personal information when you use the Chit Circle website, mobile application, services and related features (collectively, the “Platform”).
By accessing or using Chit Circle, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Platform.
1. ABOUT CHIT CIRCLE
Chit Circle is a technology platform designed to help individuals and community groups organise, communicate and manage chit-related activities. The Platform may provide creation and management of chit groups; invitations by mobile number; joining through SMS invitation, mobile OTP and PIN; SMS reminders; online bidding; automated bidding instructions; bidding records; group schedules; contribution information; and communication between owners and members.
Chit Circle is a technology service provider. Unless expressly stated otherwise in a separate written agreement, Chit Circle is not a party to the underlying financial relationship between a chit owner and its members.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Depending on how you use the Platform, we may collect:
• Account information: name, mobile number, email where provided, profile information, account identifiers, authentication information, PIN-related information and verification status.
• Chit group information: group name, owner/member information, member mobile numbers, invitation records, participation status, contribution-related information entered into the Platform, bidding information, schedules, reminders and activity records.
• Information provided by owners: information about members for invitations or group administration. Users must have lawful authority to provide such information.
• Device/technical information: device type, operating system, application version, browser type, IP address, device identifiers, network information, logs, diagnostics and security information.
• Usage information: screens/pages viewed, features used, login activity, bidding interactions, notification interactions, errors and technical events.
• Communications: support requests, complaints, feedback, attachments and communication records.
• SMS/OTP information: mobile number, OTP generation/verification information, delivery status and authentication timestamps.
3. INFORMATION WE DO NOT INTENTIONALLY COLLECT
Do not submit passwords, banking credentials, ATM PINs, card PINs, CVV numbers or other highly sensitive information through ordinary group communications or support channels unless specifically requested through an authorised secure process.
4. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We may use information to provide and maintain the Platform; authenticate users; create and manage groups; invite members; facilitate participation and bidding; provide auto-bidding; send reminders and notifications; provide support; prevent fraud and unauthorised access; improve products and usability; analyse performance; comply with law; respond to lawful authorities; investigate suspected unlawful activity; establish or defend legal claims; and protect our rights and users.
5. LEGAL BASIS
Depending on applicable law and circumstances, processing may be based on consent, provision of requested services, legal obligations, legitimate and lawful business purposes where permitted, security/fraud prevention, or other lawful grounds.
6. INFORMATION SHARING
Chit Circle does not sell personal information as a business model. Information may be shared with authorised group participants as necessary for group operation; chit owners/administrators; service providers such as hosting, databases, authentication, SMS, analytics, security and support providers; lawful authorities; and successors in a business transfer, subject to applicable law.
7. GROUP VISIBILITY
Information entered into a shared chit group may be visible to authorised group participants depending on the feature and permissions. Users must not misuse, copy, publish, sell or distribute another participant’s information.
8. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Third-party services may have their own privacy policies and terms. Chit Circle is not responsible for privacy practices of independent third parties outside its control.
9. SMS AND MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS
Chit Circle may use SMS, push notifications or other channels for invitations, OTPs, reminders, bidding notices and essential service messages. Delivery depends on telecom operators, networks, devices and other factors outside Chit Circle’s control.
10. AUTOMATED BIDDING
Where enabled, we may process maximum bid amounts, bidding instructions, group/auction information, timestamps and results. Auto-bidding operates according to user-configured instructions and rules. Users are responsible for reviewing their instructions. Chit Circle does not guarantee a particular bidding outcome or financial result.
11. SECURITY
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, misuse, destruction and loss. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Users are responsible for account credentials and PIN security.
12. RETENTION
We retain information only as reasonably necessary for providing the Platform, maintaining group records, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, accounting/audit, enforcing agreements and protecting legal rights. Some information may be retained after account closure where required by law or legitimate purposes.
13. ACCOUNT DELETION
Subject to law and legitimate retention requirements, users may request account closure/deletion. Some information may need to remain where required for active group records, law, legal proceedings, security investigations or protection of rights.
14. DATA PROTECTION RIGHTS
Subject to applicable law and its commencement provisions, users may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent, grievances and other data-protection rights. Requests may require identity verification.
15. CHILDREN
The Platform is intended for users legally permitted to enter into the relevant arrangements and use the Platform. We do not knowingly collect children’s information where prohibited by applicable law.
16. COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES
The website/application may use cookies, local storage, device identifiers and analytics technologies for authentication, security, preferences, performance and service improvement.
17. INTERNATIONAL PROCESSING
Depending on infrastructure and service providers, information may be processed or stored outside the user’s state or country. Where applicable, we will follow legal requirements concerning such transfers.
18. USER RESPONSIBILITY
Users are responsible for ensuring information they provide is accurate, lawful and provided with appropriate authority. Users must not provide another person’s information without a lawful basis or authority.
